What is home detention curfew

Home detention curfew (tagging)

Home Detention Curfew is also known as “tagging”.

It is sometimes used as an alternative to prison, or to allow a prisoner to be released earlier.

They are given a curfew (usually 7pm to 7am) during which they must stay at home.

This is monitored by an electronic tag fitted to their ankle or wrist.

See our Factsheet on Home detention curfew (tagging) for more information.
